No! In fact, we will probably only use one or two rooms for your session. I usually like to photograph the family in either the master bedroom or family room and then I love to get a few images of the nursery as well. You can choose whether or not you want to prep these rooms but we will talk about it before your session so you’ll be prepared.

I have some tips on my blog that can help you out but whatever you do, make it your style! As for your baby, I recommend something simple, like a solid-colored onesie that coordinates with whatever the family is wearing.

With newborn sessions, I find it’s easier to have a fairly loose schedule. I love getting images of families snuggled on the bed or couch together as well as individual images of each family member with the baby. We take as many breaks as your baby needs (to eat or get cleaned up) and I usually end up taking pictures through all of that, as well. If possible, we will also get some pictures in the nursery. No matter what, I will be giving you direction for the entire session so you know what to do.

Nope! In fact, I prefer the newborns I photograph to be at least six weeks old. I love capturing connection between family members and your baby will still be sleepy for several weeks after birth. By waiting a few weeks, your baby will be much more alert and ready to interact with you. In addition, it gives you a few weeks to settle in and figure out a new routine before your session.
